Back-country Camping
Immersing yourself in the great Canadian wilderness is an unforgettable way to experience Prince Albert National Park. If you like to get away from it all, you can hike or paddle to one of 15 designated back-country campgrounds in the heart of nature, with basic services to support your adventure
Winter Camping
Why not spend the night? The northern sky and solitude make winter camping unforgettable. In the winter, there are three camping options. Camping fees and entry fees apply. For more information about each option, please contact the visitor centre.
1. Drive-in camping at Birch Bay: includes access to firewood, pit toilet and an enclosed shelter.

Random backcountry: You may camp anywhere in the park that is more than 2 km away from any public highway or designated campground, 50 meters of any designated trail in Prince Albert National Park, and 2 km of the shorelines of Waskesiu, Kingsmere, Bagwa, Clare, Lily, Ajawaan, Hanging Hearts, Crean, Sandy and Lost Lakes.

Stop by the Visitor Centre entrance after office hours to self-register for Birch Bay and obtain a park use permit before your departure. No self-registration available for backcountry camping.
Deregistration upon return is voluntary. If you choose to de-register, contact us in person at the Visitor Centre, or by phone during office hours.
Heated washrooms with running water are available in the Visitor Centre 24 hours a day, in the Waskesiu town site. Stay safe and enjoy your outing!
